Yoruba Nite - a successful event

Every so often an iconic figure emerges – one that needs no deliberate branding or over-stated introductions. This notion is expressed in the unforgettable YORUBA NITE – an event that took place on October 17, 2008. Several students, faculties, and individuals in the neigboring city of Ann Arbor attended this event.

The vice chairman of National Yoruba Youth Council (Nigeria); Mr. Temitope Omotayo honored the occasion with an inspirational, educational, and motivational speech. If anything, he emphasized the fact that "it is good to know something about everything but it is even better to know everything about something."

Below is a picture of Mr. Omotayo and YYC President: Mr. Seyi Ogunlusi.

Numerous stars rocked the house during the talent display. Olamild presented a slideshow about MOTHERLAND AFRICA. The food and snacks were too delicious, you missed a lot if you missed the event.

Dupsy baby rocked the house with “Eji Owuro” another love song by Sola Obaniyi. Her rendition was wonderful because she sang and felt what she was singing. She proofed herself to be a true Yoruba chick.

YYC’s black jesus/ YYC’s wande coal whom we call Samson depicted ajegunle with his galala skills as we played the song “Pere” by Mohits All Stars.

D’man whom we all know as Ope shaked every shakable when he danced to Bobaraba. There was no dull moment throughout this performance, we were convinced that the boy’s got moves.

Oluwasparkle was not behind at all. She was moving every movables and twisting all the twistables as she danced makossa.

YYC’s Neyo whom we all know as NIYI hyped up the ladies with his original “like a river.” The song’s about true love- a love that never ends, a love that flows just like the river.

Our guests rocked the house too. Even the youngest audience member showed she was a rare talent.

The most energetic member whom we all know as Ahmed read us a poem about Nigeria. To say it was a beautiful work of art would be an understatement.

Our unbeatable and unstoppable cultural dancers rocked the house. Bebedi won npa ruwo as usual.  "Ijo Ibile" is what they do and they did the word justice that evening.

You may view more the YORUBA NITE PICTURES on our HOMEPAGE. Thank you for your time.

We thank Eledumare for the success of the event and we hope to see at future events. Ire o...
